So what happened?

I failed, a month and a half in.

I got to the point where I was not looking forward to taking pictures, which is the complete opposite reaction that I wanted from this excercise. The last few weeks I have been trying to think of a way to stay motivated and restart this demanding 365 project. I think I found a way.

To stay motivated I am going to have a series of themes every week, themes that I will have to search out and find every day. It may be a color, or an object, a setting on my camera or some random inspiration. But I will do it.

So I have until Monday, I have a few ideas, but suggestions are welcome :)

Sorry for the early let down, but it will start again!

Project 365, Week 4!

I actually missed a picture this week, and it is only week 4!
Ugh!!

But I got the job done, never the less. I really have to find a way to enjoy this more. I think the lack of great pictures is bothering me. More effort is a must.

Anyways, it may be a day late and a dollar short but here is the week :)

Week 3

I didn't really have a theme this week.
Not really sure why.

I was dragging too, the camera felt like a pesky sidekick, and I felt like I had Zero inspiration. Nevertheless, here is week three:

11/365, 1/11/10
Case and point to why I was annoyed. I left my SD card at work, so no pictures from the D90 today.

Today, I will admit, was total slacker. I sat on the ground and took a picture of the hallway in my house. Won't happen again.

Went to College Station today. Really had a chance to get some great pictures around campus, but I stayed busy visiting friends and wasn't able to go to campus very much.

Project 365, Week 2 - 50mm

One thing that I knew I had to do when I started thinking about my blog was that I must be able to add a little flare to my personal assignment, so that I wouldn't get bored. This week I decided to shoot every picture with my 50mm f/1.8 lens.
No complaints on my end, the smallest lens in my bag didn't make a hazardous effect on my week. But it did make me thing about a lot of things in regard to using this lens.
Examples:
1. Thinking more about my aperture, I know the low numbers are better for low light, (the thing that makes this lens what it is), but I wanted to experience with my DOF at closer and longer ranges, reach out to the higher f/stops and see how my lens performed and I was still about to get a good bokeh.
2. Working on different angles of shooting, getting lower, turning my camera, just to find a different eye to simple things that we see everyday.

Day 4/365, 1-4-2010
Taking a quick shot of a tree with some small birds at sunset. I was helping my father load and move some hay around to our cows, something about this just struck me. Such a clear day.

Day 5/365, 1-5-2010
Miss Mollie. I had a photoshoot with 2 baby girls that were both under 2 weeks old. Such a fun experience and gaind respect for new mothers. I was excited about how they turned out.

Day 6/365, 1-6-2010
Came home from work and saw my nephews toy dump truck in the yard. I was feeling blah about what I needed to shoot that day. A very shallow DOF was what I was going for.

Day 7/365, 1-7-2010
Ya, I cheated with the iPhone, because I forgot my camera at work. But I really want this bar.

Project 365, Week 1

To start the year off right, something new needed to be done.
I grabbed this idea over the last few months after viewing others' attempts over 2009; this was intriguing. The idea is simple, one picture, everyday for an entire year. The process is a little more complicated...

I was so excited I forgot to pack my camera on my first 2 days, talk about starting on a low point. I didn't let it get to me, and took 2 pictures with my Iphone.

So I present, Week 1:

1)
I was really down about forgetting my camera the entire weekend. Lack of inspiration and being a little pissed off turned into me taking a mediocre image of my arrow nocked onto my bow while I was sitting in the bow stand.

1/365

2)
The next day we were invited to our neighbor's ranch to explore the "mountain top" road that he built over the last few years. It was such a wonderful view. I, obviously, was still kicking myself for not having my camera. We finally drove around towards our property line on the top if the hill and found the original fence line that was built decades ago.

2/365

3)
Finally, I get home and get the Nikon back into my hands. As soon as we came back to the house, my mind was racing on what I wanted to shoot for my 3rd, but technically 1st, picture of the year. Then the announcement came to start picking up the Christmas decorations...
I guess inspiration struck me when I realized Christmas was over...

Week 2 starts tomorrow.
